What is Now In Store?
+
Now In Store is a software company. We build productivity apps for online stores, and we're not a platform ourselves. We currently make two apps: the Catalog Maker, which generates print-ready PDF catalogs and line sheets from your product data, and Flook, which turns any PDF into an interactive flipbook. Foldsquare, our next-generation catalog builder, is also available in public beta. Over 30,000 online stores have used our apps to produce wholesale materials, tradeshow catalogs and digital lookbooks.
What's the difference between the Catalog Maker and Foldsquare?
+
The Catalog Maker is our stable, production-ready catalog builder, trusted by 30,000+ online stores for years. Foldsquare is its successor: a full rebuild from the ground up, with a faster rendering engine, a new template system, native multi-platform support, team collaboration and a fresh brand identity. Foldsquare is currently in public beta, and both apps will run in parallel until Foldsquare is ready for general release. Merchants using the Catalog Maker today don't need to switch; we'll provide a migration path when Foldsquare exits beta.
Can I join the Foldsquare beta?
+
Yes, the beta is open, and you can access it directly from inside the Catalog Maker app. Visit
the Foldsquare page to try it. Beta users get early access to every new feature, a direct line to our product team, and their feedback materially shapes the 1.0 release. Beta access is currently free.
Which e-commerce platforms do you support?
+
The Catalog Maker runs on Shopify plus BigCommerce, Lightspeed and Ecwid, connected via the app's integrations. Flook is available on both the Shopify App Store and BigCommerce, and the flipbook viewer itself can be embedded on any website regardless of platform. Foldsquare (in beta) is being built for multi-platform support from day one.
Are the Catalog Maker and Flook the same app?
+
No. The Catalog Maker and Flook are two completely separate apps, each with its own pricing and its own free trial. The Catalog Maker is for generating PDF catalogs from your product data. Flook is for turning any PDF into an interactive flipbook. Pick the one that matches your need, or use both if you need both jobs done.
Which apps should I install first?
+
It depends on what you want to produce. If you need to create a PDF catalog or line sheet from scratch using your Shopify products, install the Catalog Maker. If you already have a PDF (a catalog, lookbook, brochure) and want to publish it online as an interactive, shoppable flipbook, install Flook. Many merchants use both, building the PDF in the Catalog Maker and publishing it through Flook.
Can I use these apps outside of Shopify?
+
The Catalog Maker works on Shopify as well as BigCommerce, Lightspeed and Ecwid. Flook is a Shopify App Store app; the flipbook viewer itself can be embedded on any website regardless of the e-commerce platform behind your storefront. For multi-platform support out of the box, keep an eye on Foldsquare (currently in beta).
Do I need an online store to use the Catalog Maker?
+
No. You don't need a store on Shopify or anywhere else. Register directly on our website and upload your products straight into the Catalog Maker inventory — add them manually or import in bulk from a spreadsheet — then build your catalogs, line sheets and order sheets exactly as you would with a connected store.
Do I need design skills to use your apps?
+
No. All the apps are designed for store owners who are not designers. The Catalog Maker and Foldsquare ship with pre-designed templates laid out automatically from your product data. Flook applies a clean default viewer to any PDF you upload. You can customize colors, fonts and branding in every app, but most customers never leave the defaults.
Can I sell products directly from a Flook flipbook?
+
Yes. Every region of a Flook flipbook can be made clickable and linked to a product page, a collection, a checkout URL, or any other destination. Whether your checkout runs on Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix, or anywhere else, the clickable hotspots just link out to wherever you tell them to. Standard checkout behavior like analytics and discount codes is preserved.
Is there a free trial?
+
Yes. The Catalog Maker has a 14-day free trial. Flook has a 7-day free trial. Both trials start when you install from the Shopify App Store, and you can cancel at any point with one click. Foldsquare is currently free during its beta period; pricing will be announced at general release.
